Partnerships

The International Olympic Truce Centre has developed an extensive network of partnerships with Organizations, Institutions and Municipalities that support the Olympic Truce. Speaking more specifically:

Being a member of the Olympic Family, the IOTC, in close cooperation with the International Olympic Committee, the Organizing Committees of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games, carries out educational programmes that promote the values ​​of Olympism and the Olympic Truce. As a result, the IOTC through its educational programme has been present at the educational and cultural part of last 4 Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing 2014, Lillehammer 2016, Buenos Aires 2018, Lausanne 2020).

Under the umbrella of the IOC, which holds the status of observer at the UN, the IOTC promotes the UN Resolution on Observance of the Olympic Truce during each forthcoming Olympic Games. On another note, the IOTC has in the past conducted educational programmes on the promotion of Olympism in UNOSDP Youth Leadership Programmes (PyongChang 2015, Hamburg 2016, Florida 2016).

The International Olympic Academy (IOA) is a very important partner in education. The Director of the IOTC gives regular lectures in international Sessions, as well as in the postgraduate programme of Olympic Studies, which take place at the Academy’s facilities in Olympia. Also, the IOTC and the IOA operate a joint booth during the Youth Olympic Games, promoting the Olympic Values and Ideals to their visitors, athletes, students and citizens.

An equally important partner is the British Council. Together we run the educational programme “ Respecting Diversity” and the annual school online competition “Say NO to Bullying”. In addition, the British Council has been one of the Imagine Peace Youth Camp co-organizers.

The Peace and Friendship Stadium, the second largest stadium in Greece, in collaboration with the IOTC, run an educational programme on Sports and Diversity, which is attended by thousands of students each year.

During the last few years, the international non-governmental organization International Center for Sport Security (ICSS) through its Save the Dream initiative, which aims to promote the social and educational value of sports among young people has proven to be a valuable partner. Among others, Save the Dream has been a co-organizer of the Imagine Peace Youth Camps and has contributed to their success by engaging notable trainers to the Camps’ Trainer team.

The Hellenic Olympic Committee carries out, at the Panathenaic Stadium of Athens, the educational programme “I love Sports-Kids Athletics” in cooperation with the Hellenic Athletics Federation .The IOTC supports the programme, which, among others, introduces young students to the notion of Olympic Truce.

In addition to partners mentioned above, the IOTC has signed Memorandums of Understanding and occasionally conducts activities with the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki, the Marathon Run Museum, the PyongChang Legacy Foundation, the Axion Hellas NGO, Municipalities of Attica and others.
